Undereye dark circles
  • The appointment takes around 45 minutes, including numbing time.

We recommend a course of minimum 3 sessions, carried out 2-4 weeks apart for best results.

As we can never halt the skin’s ability to produce pigment in this area, we recommend 1 maintenance session every 6-9 months to keep the area looking bright.

  • It can be a bit uncomfortable however we numb the skin prior to the treatment with numbing cream. Local anaesthetic is also added into the injected solution to reduce any pain.

We also do not use needles in this delicate area, to reduce trauma and discomfort. Instead we use a micro-cannula to deposit the solution. This is blunt ended and uses only a single entry point on both sides, thereby reducing trauma and minimizing risk.

The result can be seen gradually over the next few weeks and is a cumulative result based on a course of treatments.

  • As we are placing these ingredients superficially into the skin in the area, moderate swelling is expected on the day and for most people, is largely gone by the next morning as it is absorbed into the skin. Some patients, however, do still have a small degree of swelling for a few days after the treatment. This is generally not bad enough to mean they can’t go to work or carry on as usual.

  • It is important to realize that dark circles can be influenced by so many different factors such as:

    • Thin skin under the eye

    • Hollowness due to genetics or the ageing process.

    • Hyperpigmentation

    • Vitamin Defiencies

It is thus important to have a consultation first and also to be realistic with your expectations. If you are affected by all of those four factors above, yet only address e.g. the hyperpigmentation with undereye mesotherapy, you cannot expect the dark circles to be suddenly gone.

In the same way, people often assume once hyperpigmentation is treated, the problem is solved. Unfortunately, no treatment can get rid of it completely but if we can brighten the area, we can improve the dark circle appearance.

Undereye Mesotherapy

Undereye mesotherapy treatment is a skin rejuvenation treatment that allows us to place a bespoke cocktail of skincare ingredients into the skin under the eye to rejuvenate, brighten and hydrate.

Undereye hyperpigmentation is very common but difficult to treat with topical products due to the stubborn and deep nature of hyperpigmentation in this region combined with the fact the skin in this area is far thinner than the rest of our face so tolerance to strong actives is lower.

We cannot switch off our bodies production of melanin however, we can aim to suppress it with a course of undereye mesotherapy treatments.

We place a combination of skin booster (hyaluronic acid) and medical grade anti-pigmentation serum containing phytic acid, kojic acid and vitamin C into the skin. These are all inhibitors of the enzyme tyrosinase which is responsible for the production of melanin(pigment) in the skin.

The treatments will aim to brighten, hydrate and reduce density of pigmentation in the under eye region but we will NOT be able to ever remove it fully (nor will any treatment). Results can vary between individuals depending on density of pigmentation, skin thickness and tolerance.

Our goal is to give the undereyes a lighter, brighter and more hydrated appearance.

For anyone who also has hollowness under their eyes, we often following undereye mesotherapy sessions with tear trough filler to improve the difficult undereye area as much as we can.
