• The appointment takes around 30- 45 minutes, with the actual procedure taking only around 15 minutes.

The results from the filler are instant, and midface filler generally last around 12-18 months. Each time you have this done, the results will last longer as long as the initial scaffold of filler is still in place.

  • It can be a bit uncomfortable however we numb the skin prior to the treatment with numbing cream.

We also do not use needles in this delicate area, to reduce swelling/pain and also to be safe and minimize complications. Instead we use a micro-cannula to deposit the filler. This is blunt ended and uses only a single entry point on both sides, thereby reducing trauma and minimizing risk.

The result can be seen instantly.

  • Downtime with filler in this area is generally very minimal and makeup can be applied the next day.

Tenderness and mild swelling is expected for a few days as well as potential for mild bruising in some cases. We provide pre and after care instructions to go through ways we can further minimise this.

  • People often worry that midface filler will make their face look bigger or wider. This is not the case at all as the midface is the area directly below and slightly lateral to the tear trough hollow.

Midface Filler

Our mid face is the area directly beneath and slightly lateral to our tear trough hollows. When we have a flatter midface, it gives a more sunken appearance to our face and can make us look more tired/ less fresh. If accompanied by deeper tear trough hollows under the eye, this can be exacerbated.

A flatter mid face can be genetic but we also experience volume loss in the area from the early ageing process, which tends to start from our mid 20’s in the mid face and tear trough region.

By carefully placing dermal filler (injectable hyaluronic acid) into the midface, we can restore volume, support and indirectly improve the tear trough and improve light reflections in the area. When we place highlighter, we usually always place this on our midface as this is where we generally want the light to hit to give a brighter, more lifted and younger appearance. Restoring the midface can also give the illusion of a narrower lower half of face.

This treatment is sometimes combined with tear trough filler if appropriate to give a seamless transition between our lower eyelid and cheek.
