• The appointment takes around 45 minutes, including numbing time.

We recommend a course of minimum 3 sessions, carried out 2-4 weeks apart for best results.

As we can never halt the skin’s ability to produce pigment in this area, we recommend 1 maintenance session every 6-9 months to keep the area looking bright.

  • It can be a bit uncomfortable however we numb the skin prior to the treatment with numbing cream. Local anaesthetic is also added into the injected solution to reduce any pain.

We also do not use needles in this delicate area, to reduce trauma and discomfort. Instead we use a micro-cannula to deposit the solution. This is blunt ended and uses only a single entry point on both sides, thereby reducing trauma and minimizing risk.

The result can be seen gradually over the next few weeks and is a cumulative result based on a course of treatments.

  • As we are placing these ingredients superficially into the skin in the area, moderate swelling is expected on the day and for most people, is largely gone by the next morning as it is absorbed into the skin. Some patients, however, do still have a small degree of swelling for a few days after the treatment. This is generally not bad enough to mean they can’t go to work or carry on as usual.

  • It is important to realize that dark circles can be influenced by so many different factors such as:

    • Thin skin under the eye

    • Hollowness due to genetics or the ageing process.

    • Hyperpigmentation

    • Vitamin Defiencies

It is thus important to have a consultation first and also to be realistic with your expectations. If you are affected by all of those four factors above, yet only address e.g. the hyperpigmentation with undereye mesotherapy, you cannot expect the dark circles to be suddenly gone.

In the same way, people often assume once hyperpigmentation is treated, the problem is solved. Unfortunately, no treatment can get rid of it completely but if we can brighten the area, we can improve the dark circle appearance.

Polynucleotides

This is a revolutionary skin/undereye rejuvenation treatment using ultra purified and sterilised DNA fractions, in the form of a gel, which is injected into a given area as a biostimulator. The polynucleotides initiate your body’s natural fibroblast production, resulting in increased collagen and a thicker, healthier epidermis (upper skin layer).

They are synthetically aggregated in laboratories with the nucleotides extracted from Salmon sperm. This is because the DNA contains similar codes to human DNA. This however has no relation to fish allergies and the treatment has so far proven to be hypoallergenic.

People with dark circles, poor skin quality or very mild hollowness can all benefit from this. If you have a lot of hollowness, it is likely we will suggest tear trough filler afterwards as the polynucleotides will not create much volume. Once the polynucleotide treatment has been carried out, there is initial swelling which should not be confused for results. Because this treatment stimulates your own body, results are typically seen 60 days after the initial treatment.

If you have a lot of accompanying hyperpigmentation, we will usually advise having polynucleotides with undereye mesotherapy (with the added effect of brightening hyperpigmentation).

Polynucleotides are good alternative for those who are not suitable or keen on having typical tear trough filler and they do not carry some of the risks associated with dermal filler.

We suggest bringing a pair of sunglasses so you can conceal any initial swelling or bruising.
