• After the first session, you will typically start to see results after 1 week once the mild redness and possible flaking subsides. Skin often looks brighter, clearer and more even-toned with pigmented areas gradually lightening over the next several weeks.

For best results, we advise 3 sessions of PICO laser, carried out 4-6 weeks apart for best results.

  • The procedure is generally well tolerated and considered much more comfortable than traditional lasers. Most patients describe the sensation as mild to moderate stinging and some warmth as the laser is working.

The laser emits ultra-short pulses of energy through a lens at the tip of the handpiece. The pulses produce a photoacoustic effect which breaks down the pigment into smaller fragments which are more easily removed naturally by the body.

The laser will also in turn induce collagen remodelling and an overall rejuvenation and antiageing effect as a result.

  • Downtime with treatment is generally very minimal. Treated spots or areas of pigmentation can initially look darker but this is temporary. In the first 24-72 hours redness fades but the skin can still be a bit sensitive or dry.

Patients can also experience flaking on areas with acne scarring or pigmentation.

Skin begins to look brighter and clearer after 1 week and these results will continue to improve over the next 3-4 weeks.

No prolonged sun exposure e.g. very sunny holiday for 4 weeks before treatment and 4 weeks after each session.

  • For best results, once you have completed your initial course of 3 sessions, we advise one session every 9-12 months to optimise results.

PICO Laser

This cutting edge laser is specifically aimed at treating hyperpigmentation in all skin tones and types. Unlike traditional lasers that rely on heat, the PICO laser uses ultra-short picosecond pulses (one trillionth of a second) to deliver energy deep into the skin. This rapid delivery creates a photomechanical effect that shatters pigment particles and stimulates a natural healing response without significant thermal damage.

PICO Laser is suitable for the treatment of:

  • Melasma

  • Age spots and Sun spots

  • Post-inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (brown scars from spots)

  • Acne scarring

  • Fine lines/dull uneven skin tone

The result is a marked improvement in the appearance of pigmentation, melasma and acne scars with less risk and downtime. At the same time, the laser activates collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture and firmness over time.

PICO laser is suitable for all skin types and offers a great non-invasive skin rejuvenation option backed by science.

In our resurfacing Pico treatment, we can also further tackle texture based acne scarring alongside brightening and evening of skin tone with the addition of our fractionated lens for enhanced results.
